Architectural Significance
This house appears to bea c. 1820 Federal frame vernacular house. Its 5-bay main facade is symmetrically arranged around a pedimented entrance porch with side lights and a rectangular transcom. Still intact is a c. 1870s Victorian front door with round headed glass panes. Chimneys appear at either end of the gable roof. Windows are simply en.framed and contain 6/16 wood sash.
Historical Significance
This house was for many years associated with the family of Elbridge Keith. By the 187's Carolin Keith, Elbridge's widow and Lemuel M. Keith, grocer, lived here. High St. is a very old thoroughfare—it was set out c. 1690 and was originally called Prudence St.
