Architectural Significance

This is a center hall plan Cape with classicized entrance enframements and a steeply-pitched center gable. To the rear is an addition with a Victorian porch dating to
c. 1880s. Together with its surroundings this house provides a glimpse of a pre 1900 Bridgewater farming area.

Historical Significance

Members of the Wood family farmed in this area from at least the early 1830s until the early 1900s. A P. Wood is listed here during the 1830s-1850s. By the 1870s Martin Wood, farmer, lived here. J. E. Crane's map of the Auburn-Curve St. area in 1801 does not indicate any houses on Curve St. The western segment of Curve St. was set out as early as the 1720s.
