Architectural Significance
This house represents a relatively late addition to Auburn Street's collection of 18th and mid-19th century dwellings. Built c. 1890, its H-plan and distinctive gambrel gabled components are of particular interest--it is composed of a 1 1/2 story main block, west ell and stable garage. The ground floor is sheathed in clapboards, the upper floors are clad in weather beaten wood shingles. Stylistically this house incorporates elements of the Queen Anne and shingle styles.
Historical Significance
This house does not appear on the 1879 atlas. In 1903 it is labeled "Mrs. Chamberlin."
