Architectural Significance

This is a well preserved example of an L-plan, late Italianate house with a well crafted front porch with turned elements and gingerbread detail. A similarly rendered barn is attached to the south ell.

Historical Significance

This house apparently dates to c. 1875. Its land had been part of the Holmes holdings In 1979 P.D. Leonard owned this house. By the early 1900s this property was owned by Hosea Kingman, Central Square attorney and real estate speculator. He lived at 21 South Street at the town center.
