Architectural Significance

This is an L-shaped Greek Revival 1 1/2 story cottage with a side hall plan main block and handsome classical Revival entrance enframements. This house is integral to the mid 19th c. character of Springhill Ave.

Historical Significance

On March 31, 1849 Marcus Conant paid Thomas Hooper, "gardener and nurseryman", $125 for this house's lot. By the early 1870's Sarah A. Lawrence, widow of Aaron L. Lawrence, lived here. She was the mother of Annie Lawrence Gammons, founder of the first Methodist Church in Bridgewater. By the early 1900's, Alfred Hall, a clerk at the Custom House in Boston lived here.
