Architectural Significance

This is a simple 1 story Cape with an exceptionally attractive center entrance—the front door is flanked by narrow side lights and moldings exhibit circular rosettes at the corner blocks. Above the front door is a wide lintel.

Historical Significance

Over time this house has been owned by a J. Fobes (1830), I. Grabant (1850s), A. B. King (1879) and Edward Wilbur (1900s)—none of these owners appear in late 19th c. business directories. Built c. 1825, the village of Scotland was settled as early as 1664 and was the first English settlement in Bridgewater.
