Architectural Significance

Situated near the intersection of Pleasant and North Streets, this well-crafted Cape Cod cottage possesses a center hall plan, 5-bay main facade with a projecting entrance (note the fanlight and eliptical roof). Windows contain 2/2 wood sash. This house is enclosed by a gable roof with a low brick center chimney.

Historical Significance

Together with its remarkably intact pre-1900 landscape features, this attractive Cape Cod cottage provides a glimpse of a c. early 1830s Bridgewater farm. During the 19th and early 20th centuries it was owned by a branch of the Wilbur family—George Wilbur apparently built this house—by the 1870s Theodore C. Wilbur, farmer and carpenter, lived here.
