Duckworth, Frank M. House
31-37 Mount Prospect St
Single Family Dwelling House
Bridgewater Town Center
Massachusetts Historical Commission Report
This is an unusual Bridgewater example of a Queen Anne double house. Clad with clapboards on the ground floor and wood shingle on the second floor, it features paired entrances and a small porch with turned elements at the center of the 6-bay main facade. In the center of the main facade's roof slope is a gable with a Queen Anne sunburst motif. The roof features jerkinhead gables.
Mt. Prospect St., between South and Union Sts. remained undeveloped as late as the early 1870s. #31 and 37 represent a relatively late addition to this street's collection of late 19th c. houses. In 1891 it was purchased from Charles M. Bryant (heir of the D. Bryant estate)—the Bryant house was once located at the northeast corner of South and Mt. Prospect Sts.) by Frank M. Duckworth, pattern maker. Duckworth did not live here—his residence is listed as "Plymouth St."
